Expert Repointing Services for Lasting Results

Repointing is a vital process for maintaining your brickwork and ensuring the longevity of your property. Although it’s often the least glamorous aspect, removing old mortar and replacing it with lime mortar is crucial for the integrity of your masonry.

Why Choose Lime Mortar Repointing?

Replacing hard cement mortar with lime mortar offers multiple benefits:

  • Eliminates damp issues and moisture damage
  • Protects against external elements
  • Enhances curb appeal and increases property value
  • Maintains structural integrity and strengthens walls
  • Improves insulation, reducing heat loss and lowering heating costs
  • Provides a more cost-effective alternative to traditional insulation
  • Restores clean, sharp edges for a fresh look

The best time to carry out repointing is during spring, when weather conditions are ideal.

Colour Options for Mortar:

We provide a range of mortar colours to match the aesthetic of your property, including:

  • Traditional Grey: The most common and versatile option, ideal for most buildings.
  • Cream: A lighter, softer option to complement light-coloured bricks.
  • Red: Adds warmth and is perfect for red or brown brickwork.
  • Custom Colours: We can mix custom shades to match your unique requirements.

types of pointing available

Flush Pointing

To complete flush pointing, also known as flat pointing, we carefully fill the mortar joints until they are level with the surface of the bricks. This technique ensures a smooth and uniform finish, perfectly complementing modern buildings with clean lines and contemporary designs. Precision and attention to detail are essential to achieve a seamless result.

Weather Struck Pointing

To complete weathered or struck pointing, we recess the mortar joint slightly from the brick face and shape it into a sloped profile. This design helps protect against water penetration by directing moisture away from the joint. The result adds depth and character to the brickwork, creating a classic, timeless appearance often associated with traditional or historical buildings.

Tuck Pointing

To complete tuck pointing, we start by applying a base layer of mortar that matches the colour of the bricks, filling the joints completely. Once this layer has set, we carefully add a thin, contrasting strip of mortar along the centre of the joint to create the illusion of fine, precise lines. This technique is ideal for mimicking the appearance of high-quality brickwork or restoring deteriorated mortar joints without the need to re-lay the bricks.

Penny Roll Pointing

For this style of pointing we use a rule and straight edge and scribe a small penny size joint through the middle of the mortar joint, This hides all irregular bricks and gives a much better smarter look.
