Lime Mortar Repointing

In most repointing cases the least popular aspect of the process, although vital that it’s done as thoroughly as possible, is the removal of the existing mortar joints which, in the case of original lime mortars, is relatively straight forward; however, more frequently this involves the removal of hard cement mortars and in order to mitigate further damage to the original masonry this should be removed as carefully as practical leaving as square a profile as can be practically achieved to the back of the joint to the depth between 20mm and 25mm once prepared we will then re-point in a lime mortar mix.

It is suggested to get your brickwork cleaned prior to this service, to get the best results, 

Step 1 -  Scaffolding erected prior to works starting if required 

Step 2 - to rake out and remove all old mortar to the depth of 20 - 25mm 

Step 3 -  repointing of brickwork with lime mortar 

Step 4 -  clean up of areas and waste removal 

Step 5 -  work is checked over to ensure the client is satisfied 

Step 6 - Scaffolding is arranged to be taken down
